Aviation Country Profiles PDF Print E-mail

In January 2013, the SPC Transport Programme commenced a data and information collection project to profile the current aviation environment across its Pacific Island member countries and territories (PICTs). It is anticipated that this project will culminate in the development of a reference guide for Pacific aviation. While the Pacific Aviation Reference Guide will be produced in hard copy, the information and data will also be reproduced on this site in the form of individual country profiles.

The need to centralise PICT aviation information is high as it is currently fragmented and localised across the region. Centralising this information will enable current, reliable and relevant transport information to be readily available to stakeholders. Having accurate and easily accessible information is critical for effective planning and decision making. This is reflected in the Framework for Action on Transport Services (Theme 6, Transport data, information and knowledge). On completion of the project, stakeholders can expect to find information for each country and territory covering:

  • average weekly flight numbers;·
  • political and bureaucratic structures;·
  • aviation legislation;·
  • air service agreements;·
  • airports and runways;·
  • flight information regions;
  • and airlines.
